Here are some of the most common acronyms related to digital photography, together with what they actually mean.

Re: Over-exposed Flash Shots with Tamron AF 17-50 F/2.8 XR Di II

No, I haven't noticed any under-exposure because I bought SB600 just recently. Before that, I used the D80 build-in flash which has a guide number of 13. Given the max aperture f/3.5 of the lens, the built-in flash only reaches 3.71m. So 3.98m is beyond its capacity anyway.

I will do some test using my SB600, and let you know the result.

Re: UV Filter or No UV Filter

Jeff,

You are welcome. I think more and more people are realizing this but there are still many more who need to figure this out. That's why I want to get the information out to others.

Thanks.

Max

Re: UV Filter or No UV Filter

Thanks for someone else piping up about this. I used to keep a UV filter on my lenses at all times for protection and always wondered why I got stray light all over my pictures. I always wrote it off as ambient light from the city and had given up on shooting certain scenes because of this. The night I discovered it was my UV filter creating that stray light, I nearly threw myself into the road thinking about how easily the problem was corrected. To this day, I still feel stupid, but at least I can have a little more framing freedom without having to think about those stray lights.

Anyone who recommends putting a UV filter on your lens should also provide a warning about this situation. Thanks for saying something about it.

Re: Top Photography and Image Manipulation Apps for iPhone

Thanks for the tips.Keep posting.

Re: Book: Real World Nikon Capture NX2

Many digital cameras behave like color slide film—the best images are often slightly underexposed, particularly when bright scene elements are involved.

Re: Canon EOS 40D vs. Nikon D200

there is a nice review about canon eos 20d

http://digital-photographyblog.blogspot.com/200...

Re: Over-exposed Flash Shots with Tamron AF 17-50 F/2.8 XR Di II

Very interesting.

Do you have flash exposure problem with this lens? I found out that my nikon 18-135 lens also gives incorrect distance information. For distance less than 3.98m, it reports correctly. For distance more than 3.98m, it always reports 3.98m.

I have checked some pictures taken by other people using this nikon 18-135 lens. They share the same problem. If fact I haven't found out any sample taken by this lens with recorded focus distance larger than 3.98m.

Re: Nikon New Firmware V2.01 for D200 Dead Battery Syndrome

Hi,

Your site is one of my favorites seen around blog explosion.
